Idea Co-op is a collaborative Idea and technology co-working center in the heart of Hancock County, powered by NineStar Connect.

The mission of Idea Co-op is to:

  • Attract and retain technical talent to Hancock County.
  • Provide a co-working facility with state of the art technologies.
  • Offer an education center to host all types of technology classes, seminars, and training.
  • Establish an IoT (Internet of Things) lab for agri-tech, utility solutions, and a host of other possibilities.
  • Help foster new start-up businesses in Hancock County and help grow the local economy.

 

Why would a cooperative open a co-working space? NineStar Connect is a member owned cooperative and is guided by the seven cooperative principles:

2. Democratic Member Control

3. Member Economic Participation

4. Autonomy and Independence

5. Education, Training and Information

6. Cooperation among Co-opertatives

7. Concern for the Community

Idea Co-op was formed to support for the 5th principle of Education, Training and Information, as well as the 7th principle, Concern for the Community. It is our goal to create an environment that will provide low-cost space in a community-driven environment of like-minded people such as entrepreneurs, innovators, freelancers, corporate refugees, and creative thinkers. It provides an organic source of networking, as well as access to on-site business training tools and resources. We hope to spur economic development in the communities in which we serve.

About our logo: The firefly signifies our rural setting, open spaces, and lots of ideas! And to top it off, Say’s Firefly became Indiana’s state insect via legislation signed by Gov.
